One very amusing experience this winter. I was registering for a medical test via phone. The clerk asked me my date of birth. I said, "ten, eight, thirty-seven." Wait for it..... She said, "Is that 1937?" I apologized for laughing a full half-minute. I asked her if she thought it might be 1837, and if it was 2037, I wasn't here yet. On second thought, she was young, English was her second language, and she'd probably been trained to use 4 digits for the year.
