Summer's Here

It has gotten warm in the mountains! We are enjoying cool evenings and a light blanket by morning, but we have experienced some hot afternoons. As bad as our heat, it's unbearable in the central part of NC, and folks are flocking to us to camp and enjoy the river on weekends.

Last evening we sat outside to enjoy a cool breeze, and there were just enough clouds to contribute to an awesome sunset. The thunder in the distance never reached us, so we are still watering our topsy-turvy tomato plant every day.

Our birds are enjoying their return to the area. Ranger Jamie has hung a hummingbird feeder at the Visitors' Center which competes with ours. We both are getting lots of the little guests. The former hosts left us their finch feeder, and the finch are enjoying the thistle.
