Thanksgiving celebrations
Retailers may THINK they can force the "Holiday" buying season on us and just skip Thanksgiving. After all, how much profit is there in a turkey and 10 lbs of sweet potatoes? Well, news flash! We are celebrating Thanksgiving - not once but twice before we put up Christmas decorations, address cards, or shop for gifts. Our friend and neighbor is celebrating today, Wed., Nov. 19. He lost his wife last April, and two of his children have flown down to spend a few days with him. They decided to have a Thanksgiving feast with all the trimmings, and we are invited. What fun! Turkey and no football game today. Turkey and chaos at our house next Thursday with ages from 11 to 95 years. Nothing will start on time, and no will care. Then the following Sunday, Nov. 30th is the first Sunday in Advent. We will light the first candle and then the Christmas season will begin!
